Bungie has announced that the final Destiny Iron Banner event will kick off next week.
While full details on the Iron Banner have yet to be confirmed, the former Halo developer has confirmed that the game mode for the final event will be Control.
In addition to the punishing PvP mode, Trials of Osiris will also be making its final appearance as Bungie focuses its attention on the impending release of Destiny 2 this fall. That’s not to say full support for Destiny is ending; it’s still going to be kicking around for a while yet, but updates and online events are closing up shop from next month.
The final Trials of Osiris will kick off on August 1, although it’s important to remember that this will be the last time the event will go live before the Record Book transfer deadline. So, if you want to work towards getting your medal for Destiny 2, you had better get your skates on.
“Next week, the Iron Lords will host their very last competition in the Destiny 1 Crucible. It’s the end of an era! One more time, you’re invited to Felwinter Peak to collect some Bounties and let your Light run wild in the Iron Banner. The circle will close where it began. The game is Control. You’ll discover the rewards in the offing when you visit Efrideet,” wrote Bungie.
“We’ve arrived at an interesting time where we live in between two worlds. Step by step, we’ll migrate to a brand new title. Don’t miss out on your last chance to partake in these rituals as you know them.”
Destiny 2 is due for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017, and arrives on PC on October 24. Bungie confirmed earlier this week that pre-orders for the game will include the Coldheart exotic rifle and the Kill-tracker ghost.
