Destiny: Rise of Iron easter egg recalls a super tough enemy

Destiny: Rise of Iron players have unearthed a curious easter egg that pays homage to a classic enemy from the vanilla version of Bungie’s shared-world shooter.

Those of you who have been playing Destiny since day-one will perhaps recall the notoriously difficult Reaver Vandal, a bugged enemy who showed up on the Forgotten Shore. Bungie eventually patched this foe, although he caused Guardians a lot of issues given that he was ridiculously difficult to defeat.

Destiny: Rise of Iron easter eggs are slowly being uncovered

This Fallen adversary garnered something of a cult following among players, so much so that he was colloquially named Randal the Vandal by players. Well, it appears Bungie has acknowledged Randal’s reputation as a fearsome foe, as he’s now showed up in the new Wrath of the Machine raid, albeit having received something of a makeover.

Yep, say hello to Rahndel (that is the correct spelling, just in case you wondered) the Perfected, who has now upgraded into Splicer form. Check out the video below to see him in action, much to the surprise of a team of Guardians.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and is the fourth major expansion for the game, following on from The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King. The expansion offers new Crucible maps, weapons, armor, plus an extra raid and all-new campaign.

In addition to Rise of Iron, Bungie also launched Destiny: The Collection, which includes the base game and all available DLC. Looking beyond this year, Activision has confirmed that Destiny 2 is currently in development and will launch at some point in 2017.
