Destiny: Rise of Iron is the new expansion for Bungie’s first-person shooter.
Following in the footsteps of previous DLC content: The Dark Below, House of Wolves and The Taken King, this latest expansion offers a host of brand new content for Guardians, including Destiny: Rise of Iron exotics which are new to the franchise.
Destiny Rise of Iron: Storyline
Experience a new area on Earth called the Plaguelands where the Siva plague has taken over.
Bungie explains: “This area near the Cosmodrome has been quarantined for centuries. Now the Devil Splicers have broken through the walls, dug deep into the earth and found technology of almost limitless power. The Splicers are using this forbidden technology – SIVA – to transform the region to fit their twisted desires.”
Get closer to unravelling the mystery of the Iron Lords, and be prepared to battle against new factions, including Fallen Devils and the Splicers.
Enemies and new bosses are under the leadership of Lord Saladin, who seasoned players will recognize as being the guy that that appears in the Tower for the monthly PvP Iron Banner event.
Destiny: Rise of Iron: PvE – New Patrol Zone
Plaguelands will also be available as a new Patrol zone on Earth, and includes new PvE questlines and public events.
Destiny: Rise of Iron exotics: what’s new?
The legendary Gjallarhorn rocket launcher, which was once one of the most coveted exotics in Destiny is making a return. You’ll get it once you complete the exotic Gjallarhorn quest.
You can also pick up the Iron Gjallarhorn when you preorder the game.
Other Destiny Rise of Iron exotics include:
- The Young Wolf’s Howl – Exotic Sword
- Exotic pulse rifle (possibly named Siva)
- Nemesis Star – Exotic machine-gun
- The Trespasser – Exotic sidearm
There’s also speculation that one of the Destiny: Rise of Iron exotics will be a pair of Titan exotic boots called Dunemarchers, which have previously been teased but never released. More exotics will be available at launch.
You’ll also be able to customize your exotics with Ornaments when you find Radiant Treasures. Here’s an example of what one of your Destiny: Rise of Iron exotics will look when it’s pimped up:
How exotics will handle and what damage they’ll be able to do remains to be seen! Check back once Destiny: Rise of Iron has launched, and we’ll update this section.

Destiny Rise of Iron: Weapon and armor perks
There’s a new set of weapon and armor perks. These were uncovered prior to release by data-miners, and include:
Perun’s Prowl: Enemy Guardians with full supers and all enemies with low health are highlighted.
Radegast’s Fealty: Gain the ability to reflect energy-based projectiles when Guarding with a sword. Increase sword ammo capacity.

Destiny Rise of Iron Raid: Wrath of the Machine Raid
Destiny’s new Raid is called ‘Wrath of the Machine’ and will focus on the new Devil Splicer enemies. Few details have been revealed but it’s expected that entry to the Raid will be very similar to Vault of Glass, via the public arena in Plaguelands.
There will also be no matchmaking options for the new Raid. You’ll have to find friends and team up with them.
Maximum Light Level increased
The Light Level cap has been increased and starts at 385 with the possibility of reaching 400 with the most difficult version of the Raid. The current maximum prior to Rise of Iron was 335.
Destiny Rise of Iron Strike: The Wretched Eye
The new Strike will be called The Wretched Eye. Like other Strikes, it takes place in the same area as the new portion of the campaign, in the Plaguelands. Fallen and Hive battle around you as you search for and destroy Siva nodes. Expect a huge battle that culminates in a boss fight against a Fallen Kell and a Hive Ogre. What’s interesting about the final battle is that the Ogre can’t be damaged, but is essentially a defender of the Fallen Kell. You’ll have to use teamwork to lure him away so you damage the main enemy in what’s sure to be one of the toughest Destiny Strikes yet.
Bungie has also made improvements to the current Devil’s Lair and The Summoning Pits strikes.
Destiny: Rise of Iron PvP: New Crucible mode and maps
Destiny Rise of Iron’s new Crucible mode for PvP is called Supremacy. Two teams of six fight against each earning points for killing enemies. However, you only earn the points if you pick up the crest left by the fallen enemy. What makes Supremacy really interesting is that both teams can pick up the crest and earn the points. This means you need to think twice before even killing an enemy in PvP, especially if he has a bunch of teammates nearby! Supremacy requires more teamwork than any other Crucible Mode to date.
Destiny’s new PvP multiplayer maps are: Floating Gardens, Last Exit and Skyline. Enjoy a detailed look at each map in the following videos:

You can download Rise of Iron from the PlayStation Store on September 20, 2016. There’s sure to be a lot of demand from gamers, so Bungie may roll it out across different territories throughout the day.
What’s Rise of Iron’s install size?
Expect a 60GB file for Rise of Iron! This is a major expansion, complete with new Crucible maps, an extension of the storyline campaign, and new enemies.
