Destiny: Rise of Iron leak confirms September 2016 release date

Bungie’s website has leaked the release date for Destiny’s Rise of Iron expansion, confirming the long-rumored DLC will launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 20.

Interestingly, it appears the expansion will not be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, possibly indicating that last-generation support for the game has now ceased.

In addition to the release date leak, Xbox.com (via NeoGAF) also let the cat out of the bag in regards to a number of key features for Rise of Iron, which we’ve included below.

"Destiny: Rise of Iron is the next highly anticipated expansion to the Destiny universe. The wall which stood for centuries along the southern border of Old Russia has collapsed. Fallen mutants now scavenge the tombs of the Golden Age, and the plague they have unearthed in the wastes is more dangerous than even they understand. Join Lord Saladin. Journey into the Plaguelands. Learn the fate of the Iron Lords and stop the growing threat before it is too late.

"Includes: • New Story Campaign & Quests • New Armor and Gear • New Weapons • New Raid • Maximum Light Increase • New Strike • New Plaguelands Zone & Social Space • New Crucible Mode & Maps • New Enemy Faction and Bosses."

Bungie will host a live stream for the new Destiny expansion later today, so stay tune for more details.
