Destiny sells $325 million in 5 days, says Activision

Activision has announced that Destiny, the shared-world shooter from the creators of the genre-defining Halo series, has generated $325 million globally in five days.

The publishing giant also unveiled a slew of fun facts on Bungie’s MMO-flavored alien blaster, including the fact 100 million hours were logged by gamers in the game’s first week, participating in 137 million activities.

Destiny has now cemented itself in the record books as the best-selling new video game franchise “of all time.”

The game was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 last Tuesday. Within 24 hours of its launch, Activision said that the game had sold in $500 million to retailers and first-parties.

In Japan, Destiny was released exclusively on PlayStation platforms, where it sold 140,780 units combined on launch for PS4 and PS3.
