Destiny: The Taken King – how to get your hands on The Ace of Spades

Destiny: The Taken King is a game that has proven to just keep on giving since its launch last Tuesday, with players uncovering all manner of secrets and exotic weapons that nobody knew even existed.

Yesterday was a good example, as we told you how to obtain the Black Spindle; an exotic sniper rifle that acts very much as a Year-Two Black Hammer.

Today, we’ve got another guide in store for those of you playing as the Hunter class who fancy getting their mitts on a lush Hand Cannon known as the Ace of Spades (is someone at Bungie a Motorhead fan?). However, this isn’t going to be found by farming exotic engrams; you’ll have to invest a fair bit of time into this, and probably some old fashioned luck, too.

To do anything, you first need to increase your reputation with Banshee-44, the gunsmith located in the right-hand upper corner of the tower entrance. You do this by one of two ways: either by finding relics during strikes and missions to hand in and gain reputation, or by completing missions with Banshee-44 that involves field testing various weapons beating the objectives that go with them.

In order to get your hands on the exotic Hand Cannon, you will need to reach Rank 3 with the gunsmith. Once this has been accomplished, you’ll be given the mission ‘Back in the Saddle.’ This involves netting 100 Hand Cannon kills with a Primary Telemetry consumable active. After this, you’ll need to invest some time in dismantling a number of rare Hand Cannons for Banshee-44 to use for the new weapon. Do this, and the Ace of Spades will be yours!

So, what of the weapon itself? Well, it’s a Level 40 Hand Cannon for starters, so it’s pretty powerful. Aside from that, its perks are also worthy of mention. Firstly, it has the super handy ‘Third Eye’ perk, which allows the radar to remain active when aiming down the sights. The ‘Firefly’ perk causes any enemies hit with precision damage to explode, while the ‘Maverick’ perk distributes one round from your reserves into the chamber for precision kills.
