Dev: F.E.A.R. still has ‘huge amount of potential to grow’

Day1 Studios’ Frank Rook has indicated that the firm’s upcoming horror sequel F.E.A.R. 3 is unlikely to be the last in the series, revealing the franchise has ample room to grow beyond a third instalment.

Chatting with the folks at NowGamer, the director of design commented, "We’re setting up that that can definitely happen," adding, "But as of right now, we’ve only extended this beyond FEAR 3 just a little bit. Our goal was to finish FEAR 3 and give it a satisfying conclusion. But we also wanted to make sure that the FEAR universe still has a huge amount of potential to grow."

“The FEAR universe still has a huge amount of potential to grow.”

F.E.A.R. 3 will include a number of additional gameplay mechanics including a co-op feature, improved cover system and the promise of even more scares in comparision to its predecessors. Horror legend John Carpenter is also on board the project to help out with the cinematics.

F.E.A.R. 3 is scheduled for release in early 2011 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 platforms.
