Diablo V is officially launching in Spring 2029, Blizzard Entertainment announced during its BlizzCon event over the weekend. No platforms were announced, but given the time frame we can safely assume this is coming to next-generation formats.
The developer confirmed that Diablo V will see players controlling the Heir to Westmarch, who is on the run through the charred remains of a kingdom that Diablo has turned into an outpost of Hell. There’s new classes confirmed in the form of the Demon Hunter, Monk and Plague Knight, while gear has been inspired by Diablo II in that it will carry stat requirements, with larger items taking up more inventory space. Meanwhile, runes, runewords, and gear sets all return to make loot feel readable, memorable and worth the hunt.
Diablo has conquered Sanctuary and rules from the throne of Westmarch, using its people and souls as weapons in the Eternal Conflict. He is no longer a distant threat waiting at the story’s end; Diablo himself shapes the story, the world, and your path through it from the very beginning.
While Diablo V is currently in the early stages of development, Blizzard confirmed that the team will start sharing regular updates on progress, design philosophy, and new features from 2027.
Diablo V is slated to launch in Spring 2029.
