Hideo Kojima may have included hints of his impending departure from Konami within the confines of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes‘ ‘Deja Vu’ mission.
The mission sees Snake coming across logos for various titles in the series directed by Kojima-san, as well as those that weren’t headed by the legendary developer.
Shining a light on the Kojima-directed games will make their logo vanish, while doing the same to the titles that were not directed by Kojima-san does nothing; the logos remain in place.
Could this possibly be foreshadowing Konami’s attempts at erasing Kojima-san from the series, such as removing his name from the box art of The Phantom Pain among other things?
If that wasn’t enough, there’s also an eerie message from Kaz at the end which reads, “You might be able to erase the marking, but the memories will never disappear.”
