Digimon World: Next Order announced for the PlayStation Vita

A new Digimon game for the PlayStation Vita titled, “Digimon World: Next Order,” was unveiled in the latest issue of the manga magazine V-Jump in Japan and will release in 2016.

The reveal states “Our world will evolve” and that you will “evolve, battle and enjoy your adventures alongside your Digimon.” At this time, there is no information on who the developer is or even what type of game it will be (my best guess is a role-playing game). An official website will launch on July 21, with a Twitter account to set to open up also.

A translated version of the two-page announcement spread, along with key info can be found below.

Protagonist and Digimon

Takuto – (Default. Name changeable.) A senior at high school who is at the end of his club activities. A lover of Digimon from a young age, as a 5th grader he became the runner-up of a Japanese Digimon game competition.

Gabumon – A shy young Digimon that grows out his fur and digivolves into Garurumon.

Agumon – A low-level Digimon. His special attack is known as “Baby Flame.” (A flame attack shot from his mouth.)

Character Designer: Taiki (Pixiv gallery)

The main illustrator for a lot of characters from Lord of Vermillion III has designed some characters for the latest Digimon adventure.

“When I was in elementary school, I bought my first Digimon handheld and it was the first time I fell in love with Digimon. As I was with my very own Digimon, I felt half of the pressure of my very own life.”

A few weeks ago, Digimon fans received the pleasant surprise that Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth will launch in 2016 for North America and Europe on the PS4 and PS Vita. If sales of the game do well, it would not be hard to imagine Digimon World: Next Order making its way to the West.
