Dish streaming app announced for PS4 and PS3

Dish Network subscribers who also happen to be part of the PlayStation family are in for a real treat.

Dish announced at CES 2014 that it will be placing its attention on the PS3 and PS4 with the Virtual Joey app, as reported by CNET. In an effort to swoon gamers over to its streaming service, the company ensures that both consoles will function as a virtual set-top box as long as a Dish Hopper subscription is in place, providing easy access to all your favorite TV shows without the need of additional hardware.

To simplify things further, both the DualShock controller and a standard Dish remote can be used to access and explore the app. The software-based client will function off of the user’s wireless or wired networks. The app is scheduled to be released for both consoles in the first half of 2014 and will be demoed at CES later this week.

This will definitely lure in consumers who’ve been on the fence about the PS4’s capability as an all-around entertainment system. This could only be a sensible move for both companies. Are you subscribed to Dish Network? If so, are you intrigued by the announcement?
