Distant Worlds conductor: Final Fantasy XII remake statement made ‘in error’

Today on Facebook, Arnie Roth, producer and conductor of last Saturday’s Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy concert, issued a correction to his statement regarding a Final Fantasy XII remake.

Roth apologizes and explains that he used the word remake “in error” during the announcements at the end of Saturday night’s concert in Pittsburgh.

Here is his full apology:

Dear friends,

In response to comments posted by fans, I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY concert in Pittsburgh.

Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from FINAL FANTASY XII, regrettably, the term ‘remake’ was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert. We sincerely regret any confusion this has caused.

Was it an honest mistake with no hint at a real Final Fantasy XII remake or remaster or is Square Enix PR doing damage control? His wording sounds leaves the possibility of a Final Fantasy XII HD remaster, rather than a remake.
