Developer DON’T NOD has published a press release reporting on the studio’s activity for the first half of 2024, where it reveals that despite the critical praise they received, neither Jusant nor Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden sold the way DON’T NOD had expected them to.
With both titles under performing, the company will be refocusing its efforts and reassessing its portfolio, which means putting two unannounced projects on pause, and in the words of chief executive officer Oskar Guilbert, the company will consider “all possible options regarding our roadmap.”
Which is another way of saying that DON’T NOD might have layoffs in its future, with how things are going.
“We are obviously disappointed by our recent performance in an extremely competitive and selective market,” said Guilbert.
“Despite an excellent critical reception, Jusant and Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden unfortunately did not achieve the commercial results we had hoped for, resulting in a deterioration in our 2024 half-year results and leading us to consider all possible options regarding our roadmap.”
Hopefully this doesn’t actually result in layoffs, as that’s truly the last thing this industry needs to see.
