DOOM open beta is now available to pre-load on PS4

Bethesda has announced that the DOOM beta is now available to pre-load for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.

The teaser for the id Software-developed shooter will go live tomorrow, April 15 and runs until Sunday, April 17.

As previously reported, the DOOM beta will offer two game modes, namely Team Deathmatch and Warpath, and allow you to compete on the maps Heatwave and Infernal. New armor sets, taunts and other content will also be included that wasn’t seen in the closed beta.

DOOM is scheduled for release on May 13, 2016. The game marks the first full-fledged instalment in the venerable shooter series since 2004’s DOOM 3, and has been dogged by a particularly lengthy development cycle.

The project was initially unveiled as DOOM 4 and was in development for last-generation consoles back in 2008. However, the project entered development hell for a period of time, before finally re-emerging as a current-generation project titled simply DOOM.

DOOM has been confirmed to run at 1080p/60fps on PS4, and features a single-player campaign that should clock in at around 13 hours play time.
