Doom: The Dark Ages Gameplay Emerges Following Reported QuakeCon 2024 Behind-The-Scenes Showing

Bethesda reportedly showcase new DOOM: The Dark Ages gameplay during last weekend’s QuakeCon 2024 event, which wasn’t presented on a livestream but instead showcase behind-closed-doors.

While the company didn’t publicly share any details on DOOM: The Dark Ages, folk who attended the gameplay showcase have now come forward with some interesting details on the highly anticipated title. One of the key changes reportedly being made is the glory kill system, which developer idSoftware is tinkering with so that it is no more based on player choice rather than scripted animations.

Elsewhere, DOOM: The Dark Ages allegedly features less “verticality” than its predecessor, and jumping feels noticeable heavier than past games. Three new melee weapons have also been added, including the ammo-collecting flail, your own fists that generate lightning, and a mace. Finally, the new shield saw reportedly allows players to navigate the map in new ways.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is pencilled in for a 2025 release on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
