I’ll be honest with you. The fact is that not a single person in the Technos team recognises this as a Double Dragon game.
According to [Muneki] Ebinuma, this game was made by a current generation of game designers who have never played or thoroughly played the arcade version of Double Dragon. That’s exactly what happened, and the result is a cheap, modern game that shows no respect for Double Dragon.
The original Double Dragon was developed by Technos Japan, although in June 2015 Arc System Works acquired the rights to all of its IPs, Double Dragon included. The most recent entry in the series, Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, was developed by Secret Base and launched in 2023.
