Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is in development for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S, Square End has announced. No release date has been announced.
You can watch a trailer below. Not much is known about the game right now, but the publisher did reveal that Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride’s Bianca and Nera will serve as dual protagonists.
The Dragon Quest Monsters franchise is a spin-off to the main Dragon Quest franchise, but unlike the core games, your character doesn’t get their hands dirty in battle, instead having to capture and raise monsters to battle for them. The first entry in the series launched in 1998 for the Game Boy Color, and was known as Dragon Warrior Monsters. The most recent outing, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, arrived in 2023 for the Nintendo Switch before hitting iOS and PC in September the following year.
Earlier today, Square Enix revealed that the previously-announced Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate had been rebooted in development, and is now known as Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams.
