A remake of Dragon Quest: VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is currently in development at Square Enix, according to a report on MP1st.
The Dragon Quest VII Remake was listed on internal documents that detail a number of upcoming projects in the publisher’s portfolio of major IPs, and unlike previous Dragon Quest re-releases, is listed as a remake as opposed to HD Remake. Dragon Quest VII Remake is reportedly set to launch in the final quarter of Square Enix’s fiscal year or the beginning of the next one.

Dragon Quest VII was originally released for the PSOne back in 2000, and arrived in the US under the title Dragon Warrior VII. Square Enix later remade the game for Nintendo 3DS in 2013, which would launch in the US and EU three years later. Dragon Quest VII is know for offering more than 100 hours of playtime even without completing any side quests, and once again uses turn-based battles in first-person while introducing the ability to talk with party members in and out of battles.
