Funcom has announced that Dune Awakening will receive a physical edition for PS5 — the timing is amusing, following Sony’s announcement that it’s scrapping physical game discs in 2028 — and has released a Deep Dive video offering a fresh look at the upcoming open world survival title.
The disc version of Dune Awakening will be distributed by Solutions 2 Go in North America and South America, while the European, Australia, and New Zealand release is being handled by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Amazon GameStop, EA Games, and other retailers are now offering preorders for the physical release.
Rui Casais, CEO of Funcom, commented:
September 22 isn’t just putting the game on consoles. It’s a major milestone for us, the second launch of Dune: Awakening across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. For more than a year now we have expanded and enhanced Dune: Awakening on PC and all these additions, as well as several new ones, will be available on all platforms on day one. This is the best version of Dune: Awakening yet and we’re excited to open it up to a much larger audience across platforms. Teaming up with strong partners around the world to put it on shelves everywhere is another great way for us to bring more survivors to the dangerous sands of Arrakis.
Dune: Awakening promises to deliver open-world survival on a ‘massive scale’ featuring a large-scale world brimming with activity across its social hubs, all told through a cinematic narrative that is set to keep you glued to your seats. Players start their journey as a prisoner dispatched to Arrakis to uncover the mystery of the disappearance of the Fremen, where you will will grow from nameless survivor to an agent of the Atreides or the Harkonnen.
