Funcom has announced that Dune Awakening has gone gold, which means it’s locked and loaded for its planned September 22 release on PS5.
Speaking on the game’s official X account, the studio commented, Dune: “Awakening has gone gold! The sands of Arrakis will welcome Sleepers on consoles on September 22!”
Dune Awakening is due out on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on September 22, and take the form of a survival game boasting a lush open world ripe for exploration, crafting, and storytelling. Players have been tasked by the Bene Gesserit to uncover the mystery of the missing Fremen on Arrakis, which take you to locations including Arrakeen and Hagga Basin, where you’ll cross paths with the likes of Duke Leto Atreides and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnnen.
The game supports solo and cooperative play, and you’re given the freedom to soak up the vast world of Arrakis, which is brimming with uncovered secrets, gadgets to craft, vehicles to assemble, and base building. The world is full of dangers including roaming sandworms and the scorching sun, forcing you to retreat to the shadows to stay alive. There’s rolling sand dunes, bustling city streets, and towering mountains to visit, as you rise through the ranks of the Atreides or the Harkonnen, while establishing your base — be it a simple outpost or a towering stronghold.
Arrakis is a test that few survive. Those who do, awaken. Learn to survive the unique climate of Arrakis, chasing shade and extracting liquid from the bodies of your enemies to refine it into water. Study the teachings of the Schools of the Imperium to unlock a powerful repertoire of abilities, weapons, and tools.
