Speaking during an interview with Game Informer, Techland‘s Tymon Smektala spilled a few details on the upcoming story-based DLC for Dying Light 2, suggesting it may not actually take place following the main campaign.
Smektala revealed that the team is currently beavering away on content that transpires ‘sideways to the main events.’ He also revealed that speculation online about the DLC isn’t very accurate to what’s actually in the works.
The first story DLC that we have promised, I’ve seen a lot of speculation online about what it will be and I can say confidently that they…weren’t close to the mark. At some point, we will actually start adding to the events that happened at the end of the game. We have some ideas. On paper, as they are implemented right now, it seems promising, but definitely, this will be a challenge.
Elsewhere, he also gave hope that the likes of New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and other fan-requested additions are in the pipeline.
Those are definitely things that are on the table currently and that are being worked on. I don’t want to go into too many specifics here… but very soon, people will start seeing those things being added in one form or another into the game.
Dying Light 2 was released on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One in February 2022. You can read our full review here.
