E3 2014: The Last Guardian was a no-show because it ‘wasn’t ready’

Sony has touched base on the absence of The Last Guardian during its E3 press conference earlier this week.

Speaking with GameSpot, Scott Rhode, PlayStation Software Product Development boss for Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), said the elusive Team ICO project simply wasn’t ready to put in an appearance.

"It was a fun week of Last Guardian news," said Rhode. "At PlayStation, it’s really important to us to make sure that the creative process works."

"And in this case, [game director Fumito Ueda] has created something that’s great, it’s just going to need some time. We’ll show it when it’s ready."

The Last Guardian was formally revealed at E3 2009, and was last week rumored to have been cancelled — something that Sony was quick to deny. Earlier this year, Rhode said that the game was ‘still in the mix‘ at Sony Worldwide Studios.
