E3 2014: Valiant Hearts: The Great War gets stunning spotlight treatment at E3

Valiant Hearts: The Great War – the poignant, hard-hitting World War 1 offering from developers Ubisoft Montpellier – has gotten the spotlight treatment on stage at Ubisoft’s press conference at this year’s E3.

The trailer presented overtly showed the horrors of war on the Western Front, in an art style akin to a more developed, pronounced version of Don’t Starve; displaying bodies strewn across the desolate lands, culminating in a sprawling sea of cemetery crosses.

The game features the unique viewpoint of four intertwined characters, including a dog – which will no doubt invoke similar feelings to Jurassic Bark, the heart-wrenching episode of Futurama. The game seemingly focuses on the bonds that develop during times of adversity rather than having you fight on the trenches for the entire run-time of the story.

The game’s set for a June 25 release, so stay tuned to our full review just around that time. Stay tuned to PSU for all the updates, rumours and announcements at this year’s E3 conference in Los Angeles.
