E3 2015 is over for another year, and what a show it’s been. As we pack our bags and head back home we’re left with a tough decision: which games deserve our coveted awards this year?
Winner: Star Wars Battlefront
Having already scooped our E3 2015 Best Shooter Award, Star Wars Battlefront is back again to pick up our Multiplayer accolade.
DICE Studios has been creating large-scale warfare with its Battlefield series for years, and has become a master at creating impactful multiplayer experiences. Throw what the studio has learned into a Star Wars environment, with the power of the PS4 behind it, and you get what is likely to be the pinnacle of its achievements thus far: Star Wars Battlefront is simply stunning.
After watching all the Star Wars films over the years, it’s quite incredible to suddenly see that universe brought to life in a way we’ve never got to experience before. The frenetic nature of the multiplayer battles, with explosions going off everywhere, lazers whizzing past your head, AT-ATs towering over you, and aircraft dominating the skyline, is quite intense yet utterly magical.
Online multiplayer is really what the game is going to be all about, with 40-player skirmishes, 12 maps across four familiar Star Wars locations, and some great game modes. Star Wars Battlefront has set the bar incredibly high for other games in its genre, and we just can’t wait to get it at launch.
