Fallout 4 is now more of a sandbox than ever before. You will have the ability to build your own shelter that is fully customizable. You can add all kinds of objects to turn it into the home of your post apocalyptic dreams. Human-type characters won’t be the only ones living it up in shelters, you can also build a doghouse for your four-legged friends.
If building your own shelter wasn’t enough for you, there is goods news! You can build an entire settlement for other NPCs to move into and populate. All structures will require a power source and will need to be wired up accordingly, so be ready to acquire those power supplies. Terminals will plug into power grids, giving you the ability to massively tweak power settings. You can’t get too comfortable either, as bands of raiders will come to town and try to pillage. Protecting an entire village is a lot of responsibility, but Bethesda has thought of that and given you the ability to set up turrets and defenses.
Turrets might not be enough though, so Bethesda has also developed an even more in-depth weapon crafting system. In this system, you can construct weapon parts from all types of loot throughout the game world. Apparently, nearly every item in the game has purpose and can be crafted into something. There are 50 different base weapons within Fallout 4, with 700 different modifications built from crafting materials. The laser pistol will make a return and much like the other weapons within the game, it can be modified and even completely changed into another weapon altogether.
A lot has been announced regarding Fallout 4 at Bethesda’s E3 Press Conference. Aside from all the sandbox features we now know it’s based in Boston, when it is coming out, and that there will be a Pip Boy Edition of the game.
