Electronic Arts’ John Riccitiello has revealed the first tidbits of info regarding its forthcoming sequel to the 2006 movie tie-in, The Godfather.
Speaking at the William Blair & Company’s investor meeting yesterday, Riccitiello confirmed that the title is currently in development at EA’s Redwood Shores studio, which is also in the process of working on the Survival Horror title, Dead Space.
Riccitiello commented: “It’s a game that I think we’ll be talking a lot about this fall," adding, “You can play this game both at the street level, much like a GTA-style game, but you can also play it top-down, almost like you’re in an RTS, controlling the strategy of the boroughs so you can see what’s going on…"
He also named The Godfather II’s executive producer as Hunter Smith, who previously worked on a number of James Bond titles with the publisher.
A sequel to the original game has always been on the cards, however, with EA commenting in 2006 of its intention "to make two or three" titles based on the popular movie franchise.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
