EA confirms Dead Space 2 demo

A demo of the hotly anticipated horror outing Dead Space 2 will be unleashed on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE just in time for Christmas, Electronic Arts confirmed today.

Due out in the U.S. on December 21 and in Europe the following day, the demo reacquaints players with hero Isaac Clarke from the original game, as he gains “access to a variety of new tools that Isaac can use to fight Necromorphs, including the new Javelin gun, updated stasis recharge mechanic and enhanced telekinesis ability.”

The press blurb goes on to confirm that gamers will “also experience the advanced suit, equipped with jets that will allow Isaac full 3600 control in Zero-G space.”

“The holidays are a great time to enjoy all forms of entertainment, and we can’t wait to give horror and action adventure gamers a taste of what awaits them in Dead Space 2,” commented executive producer, Steve Papoutsis.

“Releasing the demo five weeks before launch will not only re-connect players with our hero Isaac Clarke, but will also give them the opportunity to experience firsthand various jaw-dropping scenarios. It’s gonna be awesome.”

Regular readers may recall that Papoutsis chewed the fat over a possible Dead Space 2 demo during a Q&A with fans on Facebook just a few days ago. Given his comments at the time, we can’t say we’re surprised to find out we’re getting one, either.

The full game’s out in late January.
