Electronic Arts has confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will indeed support an Online Pass code as expected, which gamers can utilize to access the sci-fi sequel’s multiplayer component.
Naturally, punters who fork out for the game second hand will have to purchase an Online Pass to access the multiplayer, which has been officially unveiled this week as "Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War."
Galaxy at War will be used in the game’s single-player effort and “through a suite of Mass Effect games and applications,” namely on iOS and Facebook. It’ll also connect gamers to their BioWare Social Network accounts, where they’ll be able to download content and add-ons.
Mass Effect Executive Producer Casey Hudson commented: "The theme of galactic war in Mass Effect 3 presents us with the perfect opportunity to introduce multiplayer into the Mass Effect series.”
"Multiplayer not only features amazing combat and deep customisation options, but it will give players another way to help the war effort against the Reapers in the main event – the single player campaign."
The multiplayer mode itself features four-player co-op, where gamers can select from one of six races (Human, Krogan, Asari, Drell, Salarian and Turian) and team up to secure resources and assets to aid in the on-going war against the Reapers.
