A new entry in the Battlefield franchise will be released in 2016, publisher Electronic Arts confirmed during its latest earnings call overnight.
The news matches yesterday’s report from analyst firm Stern Agee, which claimed that EA would likely release a new Battlefield in 2016.
According to the publisher, the game, which has yet to receive a proper title, will hit stores in late 2016.
Said EA CFO, Blake Jorgensen, "We are planning to release Star Wars Battlefront in Q3 FY ’16 and our next Battlefield title in Q3 FY17.
"This provides us with a major first-person shooter title each year and allows us to focus on still increasing earnings progression in the coming years. This also allows our Battlefield titles to enjoy the long life we have seen historically through our core gameplay and extended services."
EA also recently confirmed that Battlefield: Hardline will be released in March 2015.
