EA Is Removing Madden NFL 23’s “CPR” Touchdown Celebration

After a traumatizing scene during a recent Buffalo Bills NFL game, in which a player suffered a cardiac arrest on the field and collapsed in front of thousands of fans and millions more watching on television and live streaming services, EA will remove a touchdown celebration from Madden NFL 23 in which players imitate CPR on the player who scored the touchdown.

Damar Hamlin was given CPR on the field, and was immediately after transported to a Cincinnati hospital, and is since currently recovering in Buffalo Hospital undergoing tests.

You can see a clip of the celebration in question for yourself, here.

“EA Sports is taking steps to remove the celebration from Madden NFL 23 via an update in the coming days,” a spokesperson told CBS Sports.

The scene during the Bills game versus the Cincinnati Bengals was an intense one to see unfold, particularly due to the league’s poor handling of the matter, after attempting to restart play after players had only five minutes to recover.

Thankfully, Hamlin has been doing well in his recovery.
