EA planning Dead Space movie, two more games also in works

Website Variety reports that Electronic Arts is busy working on two more Dead Space games, with plans also in motion to release a movie adaptation of the critically acclaimed horror franchise.

According to the report, EA has already signed up director D.J Caruso to helm the project, though notes the film is some ways off: “The producers, EA and Caruso have been listening to takes from prospective screenwriters, and once they set a writer and EA signs off on a creative direction, they will auction the property to studios,” it reads.

“That will likely happen in early September,” it concludes.

No details on the game sequels have been revealed at present, with the Variety report simply stating EA is currently "working on the second and third instalments” in the series. While a sequel has been rumored since late last year, this is the first we’ve heard of plans regarding a third entry in the survival horror series. Aside from this, a prequel, Dead Space: Extraction, is currently in development exclusively for the Wii.
