Every annual sports game release has its good years and bad years. With constant iteration being inherent to the development cycle of these releases, some things are going to miss the mark from time to time.
Unfortunately though for EA and its annual American football series with Madden NFL, recently it has been a streak of bad years by players and critics standards.
But as the cycle goes, EA is working to change that, and part of its efforts lies in making changes and adding layers of complexity to the storytelling available in Franchise Mode for Madden NFL 25.
In a blog post and a new trailer going into the changes for Franchise Mode, lead designer on the mode Josh Looman goes into detail on the three pillars that the team is looking to deliver on: Immersion, Customization, Depth and Core Improvements.
Looman admitted that last year’s Franchise Mode needed to feel “more alive and more engaging,” which is why the team is focusing on improving that this year.
