EA says Mirror’s Edge 2 is ‘on the list’

It seems a sequel to cult hit Mirror’s Edge may not be just a pipe dream anymore if comments from EA’s Frank Gibeau are anything to go by, with the executive suggesting it’s not a case of “if,” but rather, “when.”

Speaking to Game Informer, Gibeau revealed that Mirror’s Edge 2 is on the publishing giant’s to do list, and reiterated that the company still has a lot of enthusiasm for the IP. However, for now at least, EA has nothing to announce on a potential follow-up.

“We have nothing to announce,” he said, adding: “We love Faith. We love the property. It’s really about how and when do you bring it back?”

“It’s on the list. It’s just about looking at what teams are available, who’s got the right quality approach to it, and who understands it.”

Mirror’s Edge was released back in 2008 garnering luke warm reviews from critics, though nonetheless attracted a loyal cult following among gamers. EA has hinted at plans for a sequel before, though Gibeau’s latest comments are perhaps the most encouraging to date.

Gibeau previously suggested that Mirror’s Edge 2 will make use of DICE’s highly-lauded Frostbite 2.0 engine, the same tech that powered Battlefield 3.
