EA shuts down Australian Dead Space developer studio

Electronic Arts has confirmed the closure of Dead Space developer, Visceral Games Melbourne, following a series of tweets that sparked rumors of the studio’s closure last week.

Speaking with MCV, an EA spokesperson said the reason for the closure is because there is no "active project in development at that location," and went on to state that "EA continues to maintain its mobile studios in Melbourne which are both thriving and hiring."

However, this news does not spell the end for their critically acclaimed Dead Space series, as Visceral Games still has studios in Montreal and California.

Several other Australian based game studios have been closed in recent months, including Blue Tongue Entertainment (De Blob series), Team Bondi (L.A. Noire) and THQ Brisbane (The Avengers).

Stay tuned.
