Cleaversoft has staple-gunned a release date to EarthNight for PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch, confirming the game will launch on December 3. The upcoming indie title takes place during the dragon apocalypse, and features hand-drawn visuals with procedurally-generated dragons to go up against as protagonists Stanley and Sydney.
EarthNight Release Date Set
EarthNight sees the Earth completely overwhelmed by invading dragons, with humanity forced to relocate to space colonies orbiting the planet. That’s where the duo come in – one a freelance photographer who’s handy with a sword and the other a student blessed with ethereal superpowers – who take it upon themselves to reclaim Earth by taking the fight to the scaly beasts.
The two heroes approach their dragon-slaying mission with drastically different tactics. Stanley’s powerful legs allow him to make both high jumps and long leaps, while Sydney favors agility by making use of an air dash and double jump ability. Both heroes wield their bespoke skills to overcome hostile environments and push towards the vulnerable heads of their scaled serpentine foes.
Dragons are procedurally-generated, and our heroes can obtain rare rewards after dispatching the hulking creatures, including dragon eggs and other mysterious objects that in turn unlock powerful upgrades. EarthNight also features over 10,000 frames of crafted animation courtesy of Paul Davey, while the game’s soundtrack was provided by Paul Weinstein.
Cleaversoft founder, Rich Siegel, commented:
EarthNight represents seven years of hard work from a collective of talented artists and the final product is something we’re immensely proud to share with everyone. We hope that Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam players are as excited to hurtle back to Earth and slay dragons as we are to watch them.
EarthNight will retail for £12.59/$14.99 via the PlayStation Store when launches in early December, and the game’s soundtrack is currently available to to grab on Bandcamp, Apple Music, and Spotify.
