The closure of Free Radical has been officially confirmed by Embracer Group after it was revealed the company’s website had been replaced with a 404 error and its employees had revealed they were now out of work.
Speaking with VGC, the company stated:
It’s with a heavy heart that we must announce yet another difficult decision. Today, we have to confirm the official closure of Free Radical Design, and say goodbye to many remarkable, talented and hard-working people. We are beyond grateful for their incredible contributions to PLAION and wish them the best of luck and success on their professional journey from here on out.
Free Radical was working on a revival of the TimeSplitters franchise prior to its closure, and it’s currently unknown what will happen to the IP. News of the developer’s closure was expected after it emerged that Embracer Group had allegedly confirmed that the studio would shut its doors before the end of the year.
