Enslaved writer became "sick" of his PlayStation 3

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West writer Alex Garland has let slip that he initially passed on the opportunity to play Ninja Theory’s Heavenly Sword as he had become “f***ing sick” of his PlayStation 3.

Speaking during an interview with Edge Magazine, Garland – who also penned the classic flicks The Beach and 28 Days Later – admitted to spending most of his gaming time indulging in copious amounts of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare via Xbox Live.

"The reason I hadn’t played it is because I’d bought a PlayStation 3 along with an Xbox 360, and by the time I met Tameem I’d already stopped playing on the PlayStation 3 because I was so fucking sick of it," he commented.

"There weren’t any original games that really blew me away," added Garland. "I was really into Xbox Live; I was much more into playing Call Of Duty 4 on Xbox Live. So Xbox really had its claws into me, and I just never bought Heavenly Sword."

Despite this, Garland did later get around to firing up Heavenly Sword following a meeting with the chaps at Ninja Theory, which impressed him enough to sign on to provide the script for Enslaved.
