The long list of developers coming out in support of PlayStation 4 continues to grow. This time, Epic Games Vice President Mark Rein joins the fun, praising Sony’s reliance on off-the-shelf PC components for PS4’s architecture.
Speaking with CVG, Rein called PS4’s construction "very smart" before predicting that Epic could do "crazy, ridiculous stuff" with sixteen times more memory vs. PlayStation 3’s specs.
According to Rein, the Windows operating system is restricted to 2 GB of addressable memory for most consumers. This puts PS4 in a position to go "beyond what most PCs can do, because most PCs are running a 32-bit version of Windows."
"It’s like giving you the world’s best PC," he continued. "The kind of stuff that they announced that they’re doing, the level of convenience and things like that… they’re making a really perfect gaming PC."
Rein also reckons that PS4 games, thanks to social features and emphasis on simplicity, will be as fun and easy to acquire as iPad games.
