The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two moved a disappointing 270,000 units in North American between November 2012 and the end of the year.
That’s according to data obtained by the publication via an unnamed source, who claimed to have access to NPD sales figures.
To put it into context, the original Epic Mickey – released exclusively on the Wii in 2010 – sold 1.3 million copies during the same time frame.
The sequel, however, was released on not only the Wii, but Wii U, PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 and yet managed to shift less than a quarter of its predecessor.
Prior to Epic Mickey 2’s release last November, creator Warren Spector seemed keen on continuing the series. However, with the game having performed poorly, it remains unknown if a follow-up will ever materialise.
“We could tell stories set in Wasteland right outta the Disney archives for the next 100 years and never run out of material,” commented Spector.
