Publisher Deep Silver is bridging the gap between the original Dead Island and its forthcoming sequel with the release of a brand new zombie action-adventure, entitled Escape Dead Island.
Due out on PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360 later this year, the game stars spoilt rich kid Cliff Calo, who along with a group of pals pinches a yacht in order to film a documentary exposing the truth behind the zombie epidemic depicted in the original game.
Taking the form of a single-player zombie-slaying actioner, Escape Dead Island sees gamers battling marauding zombie hordes on the secret island of Narapela, all the while trying to maintain a low profile.
Not only that, but Calo will also have to contend with his own sanity going off the rails, with developer Fatshark promising an unpredictable game world with time-distorting effects and strange messages.
Escape Dead Island also boasts a vibrant, comic-book aesthetic, which accentuates the blood-thirsty world in which players find themselves in.
As announced at E3 last month, Dead Island 2 is currently in development and will be released for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One in 2015.
