Evolve is being re-released under the Ultimate Edition moniker for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this week, 2K Games has announced.
As you might have expected, the Ultimate Edition packages the standard monster-hunting title alongside the expansion packs, Hunting Season One and Hunting Season Two. If you haven’t yet jumped on the Evolve bandwagon and fancy picking this up, you won’t have to wait long; Ultimate Edition comes out tomorrow, November 3, priced $59.99. In addition to releasing the Ultimate Edition of the game, 2K Games will also launch Evolve’s fifth monster, known as ‘Gorgon,’ on the same day.
Evolve was released in February and has proved a commercial success for 2K Games, selling over 2.5 million copies worldwide. Click here to read our full Evolve review. Developed by Turtle Rock Studios, Evolve is a cooperative-focused shooter where four hunters team up against a single creature on a heavy industrialized planet known as Shear. Each character possesses unique abilities that must be utilized in conjunction with their teammates to slay the beast, while the player controlling the monster can consume the natural resources on the battlezone to ‘evolve,’ growing stronger and more deadly in the process.
Each creature has its own special attacks that can be used to eliminate the team of hunters, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Gorgon’s release will bring the total to five as mentioned, with the other four being Goliath, Kraken, Wraith, and Behemoth. While a sequel has yet to be announced, Take-Two has said that it considers Evolve to be a ‘permanent franchise’ alongside the likes of Grand Theft Auto and BioShock.
