Ex-Sony Boss Shawn Layden Responds To Ghost Of Yotei Female Lead Backlash: ‘If You Don’t Like It, Don’t Buy It’

Ghost Of Yotei has a female protagonist, and that’s sadly enough to annoy certain dark corners of the Internet nowadays. Shawn Layden, who previously served as Chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, has responded to these criticisms with a very simple suggestion: If you don’t like it, don’t buy it.

The former Sony executive responded to an X thread that highlight one particular ‘criticism’ from a fan, who commented that, “They can’t help themselves until every franchise that was built on masculinity is replaced by women.” The user then went on to whinge that they are ‘so sick of forced girlboss narrative man.”

It’s a game. An entertainment. A story a team of creators believes in. They want to make this. It’s a game. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. In fact, why not make the game you want yourself?
