Jeff Grubb has claimed that Microsoft has delayed Fable internally partly due to concerns over the game clashing with Grand Theft Auto VI, which launches November 19, 2026.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, it’s worth mentioning that Grubb states that the delay does not mean that Fable won’t make it out in 2026; he suggested that the fantasy-RPG could arrive in December. Here’s what he had to say on the subject:
Apparently, they’re still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about the launch of GTA 6. And so if it’s getting delayed beyond the release of GTA 6, that could push it into December, which might make it a prime candidate to get delayed into 2027.
Microsoft has only confirmed that Fable will launch in Fall 2026, and is among many first-party Xbox games that are making their way to the PS5 thanks to the company’s new multiformat push.
This latest chapter in the long-running series is billed as a “new beginning for a legendary franchise” and reboots Fable for a new generation. Players follow a character known simply as the Hero, as they explore a large, vibrant world known as Albion, which is filled to the brim with memorable characters and the series’ trademark dark humour. As is the case with Fable, your decision will have a lasting impact on the world and its inhabitants, with reputation a key mechanic — will you be remembered for doing good or carrying out nefarious deeds? It’s all your choice.
Fable is due out on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
