Bethesda has confirmed that development has started on post-launch content for Fallout 4.
Speaking at a Fallout 4 launch event, Todd Howard, who serves as Game Director on the post-apocalyptic RPG, confirmed that DLC will be rolling out until at least the end of 2016. This ties in with previous comments from Bethesda that Fallout 4 is set to receive extensive content drops following its release, and given the studio’s previous history with DLC drops, fans should be in for a treat when it comes to fleshing out their adventure with additional content when it starts to arrive.
In addition, Howard also confirmed that Bethesda will use social media to garner fan feedback in regards to releasing free updates for Fallout 4. One company to achieve great success by using this method is CD Projekt RED, the developer behind this year’s critically acclaimed fantasy-RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Fallout 4 takes place in Boston, U.S., some 200 years after a nuclear war devastated the country, and like Fallout 3, players will emerge from the confines of the Vault to a post-apocalyptic wasteland inhabited by feral creatures and other hazards. Fallout 4 utilizes the Creation Engine, which was previously responsible for powering The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on last-generation consoles, though it has been modified for new hardware.
