Obsidian Entertainment’s Marcus Morgan (Vice President of Operations) and Justin Britch (Vice President of Development) have acknowledged that fans are eager to see a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas, but have highlighted one of the most rewarding things working under the Microsoft banner is the ability to create IP.
Speaking with The Game Business, Morgan commented, “Everyone on the internet, on every game we announce, asks: When’s the next Fallout: New Vegas?,” with Britch observing “Xbox has been pretty supportive of the stuff we do.”

Morgan added that “this year, all three of the games are IP that we’ve created,” stating that before the studio was snapped up by the Xbox format holder, its history “surrounded working on others’ IP.” As such, these days “this is the joy that we get of…how do we build our own IP?” Having now spent years building their own IPs, Morgan stated “we’ve got to the part where we have sequels to all of them.”
Back in August 2024, Fallout: Vegas Game Director, Josh Sawyer, revealed during a Q&A that he’s up for fronting a new Fallout game providing he is given sufficient creative freedom. What’s more, the creative director of New Vegas has since rejoined Obsidian, but he isn’t involved a much-requested follow-up.
Fallout: New Vegas was released for PS3 and Xbox 360 back 2010 and remains a fan-favourite in the series.
