The man who hacked the PlayStation 3 (and originally the iPhone), George “GeoHot” Hotz, has been arrested in the U.S.for possession of marijuana, AbovetheLaw.com reports. Indirectly responsible for the great PlayStation Network outage of ’11, the hacker was brought to court by Sony; this eventually led to Anonymous retaliating.
While on his way to the SXSW conference in Austin, he got stopped by security officers who searched his vehicle with using sniffer dogs.
The 22-year-old was carrying ¼ oz. of marijuana with him, as well as less than 1/8 oz. of chocolate containing the drug as an ingredient. Sounds delicious.
He made sure to let officials know that he does indeed have a medical marijuana license back in his state of residence, California. However, medicinal marijuana isn’t “a thing” in Texas, so possession is illegal.
Hotz was hit with a felony charge, and forked over the $1,500 necessary for bail.
