The next chapter in the Far Cry franchise is currently in development, according to the LinkedIn profile of an employee with Ubisoft Shanghai.
Design Manager Xavier Plagnal claims that he has been serving as “content director on the next Far Cry” since September of last year.
Plagnal previously worked on Splinter Cell: Blacklist as content director for the stealth title’s Hunter co-op mode, as well as NCIS: The Game, Beowulf and a Ubisoft Action RPG.
Ubisoft Shanghai involvement in Far Cry 4 shouldn’t really come as a surprise, as the developer previously contributed to Far Cry 3 with Ubisoft’s Massive, Red Storm and Montreal studios.
Nothing official has been unveiled as of yet, but the French publisher has made it clear it thinks highly of the brand. Last year, it teased that the first details on a full-fledged sequel to Far Cry 3 would drop ‘soon.’
Ubisoft is in the process of packaging all three Far Cry titles together as part of the Wild Expedition bundle.
