Far Cry 5 trailer showcases madness and mayhem

Ubisoft debuted an action-packed Far Cry 5 trailer during their E3 2017 press conference earlier today, offering an extensive look at the cast of characters you’ll meet in the open-world sequel.

Your quest to liberate the settlement of Fall’s End from the clutches of a doomsday cult leader will see you getting plenty of hired help, including top marksman Grace Armstrong, and canine companion Boomer. The former will be able to camp out and pick off foes from afar, while Boomer will sink his gnarly fangs into enemies and retrieve their dropped weapons for you.

That’s not all either. If you fancy raining down chaos from above, then chopper pilot Nick Rye will come in handy when you need some air support over Hope County. These squadmates tie neatly into Far Cry 5’s emphasis of co-op play, as you can bring a mate along with you to further complement your existing war buddies. You’ll be able to grab new buddies and tame animals via the Guns for Hire and Fang for Hire systems, respectively.

Far Cry 5 release date set for early 2018

Ubisoft previously confirmed that the next chapter in its action-adventure franchise will ship for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on February 27, 2018. The game sees players controlling a sheriff’s deputy who is dispatched to Hope County in order to overthrow Joseph Seed; a radical preacher and the head honcho of Eden’s Gate, a fanatical doomsday cult, who has risen to power in the region. The Montana setting marks the first time a mainline Far Cry title has been set within the United States of America, and marks a departure from the previous games’ locations.
