A recent help wanted sign on Square Enix’s site requesting game testers and game masters may indicate that we’ll see a beta test for Final Fantasy XIV come this fall. While the job offer doesn’t specifically mention FFXIV, it does ask its applicants to be well versed in FFXI and to have a passion for MMORPGs.
The game master positions are scheduled to start mid-September, which could lead many to believe a beta test would launch at the same time. The development team behind FFXIV claims it has been working on the game for five years. It also wants a longer beta period than FFXI, which was four months. While this doesn’t confirm a fall beta test period, it certainly makes for a strong rumor.
With the game scheduled to launch in 2010, a longer beta period would give Square time to clear up any kinks in its system.
