FIFA 16: Bosman transfer list

An aspect of the FIFA 16 career mode that often gets overlooked is the fact that would-be Alex Ferguson’s the world over are able to take full advantage of Bosman transfers.

For those unaware, the Bosman ruling (enacted circa 1996) allows players whose contracts are entering their final year to sign a pre-contract with a new club six months before their official deal with their current club comes to an end. Of course, it’s an occurrence that clubs everywhere absolutely dread given the fact that they’re not only going to lose a player that they’d probably rather keep but also they’ll receive no transfer fee in the process.

In FIFA 16, all players are susceptible to the Bosman ruling at some point or another. And with the computer’s propensity to only offer one-year extensions once a player’s contract is set to end you’ll be able to get the world’s best players every January provided you don’t baulk at their wages. This is how it works:

  • Once a player’s contract is within its six-month timeframe of ending, go to said player in the transfer section of the interface, click on his profile and select ‘Approach to sign pre-contract’.
  • If all goes well, he should be packing his bags and joining your ambitious side on July 1 once the transfer window opens.

Here’s a rundown of when the world’s top players’ contracts are ending so you can pre-empt a contract offer and snatch them from right under the noses of their club.
